Emily Schmitz has 20 years of medical communications experience, including a stint in television news. This broadcast experience gives her an edge in understanding how the media can effectively promote a business, educate or tell a compelling story. Emily has solid editorial judgment and knows how to creatively pitch a story to media outlets including broadcast, print, bloggers and trade publications.
Emily is an award-winning producer with experience in creating effective consumer and medical education videos and DVDs.
Emily began her career at WJMK, a video production company in Boca Raton. She also worked at American Medical Communications as a Senior Producer in Houston, Texas, as a Medical Producer at KPRC-TV (NBC) in Houston and as a Medical Reporter at YNN (formerly News 8 Austin).
Emily’s experience includes work for medical, healthcare and nonprofit sectors. She has spearheaded and collaborated on numerous public relations and marketing campaigns including the launch of the Seton Brain & Spine Institute, Seton Heart Institute, as well as prostate cancer, breast cancer, heart disease and stroke outreach community efforts.
Emily also helps clients refine their communications skills through media training, including interview preparation, on-camera analysis, and messaging.
